Privacy, cookies and website terms
Plain English, because there isn't much to say: we use your details to do the job you asked us to do, and this website only uses an advertising cookie if you say yes.
Who we are
B.E.N. Locksmiths Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company number 08664308), Store and Secure House, Telford Road, Basingstoke RG21 6AH. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website and in the course of our work. Contact us about anything in this policy at [email protected] or on 01256 242043.
What we collect and why
- Enquiries. When you use a form on this site, call or email us, we keep your name, contact details and the details of your enquiry so we can reply, quote and carry out the work. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and then performing that contract.
- Customers and account clients. We keep records of the work done, invoices and correspondence for as long as we are required to for tax and legal purposes (normally six years after the end of the tax year concerned).
- Restricted key registers. Where we manage a restricted key suite, we keep a register of authorised keyholders and keys issued. This is essential to the security of the system and is kept for the life of the suite.
- Website use. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, pages requested, browser type) for security and to keep the site running. These are not used to identify you.
Who we share it with
Nobody, apart from suppliers who need it to help us deliver the service — for example our accountants, our email and web hosting provider, and a lock manufacturer when a restricted key is ordered. We don't sell or rent personal information and we don't use it for marketing lists.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or (where we have no legal reason to keep it) ask us to delete it. Email [email protected]. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We count visits to this website with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and doesn’t identify you. With your permission only, we also use a Google Ads cookie so we can see which of our adverts lead to an enquiry (a form sent or our phone number tapped). If you click “No thanks”, no Google script is loaded. You can change your cookie choice at any time. Links to Google Maps, Checkatrade and Facebook take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.
